care in the

parkland

Encouraging responsible pet ownership and providing assistance and leadership in the humane treatment of all animals.

The Site

The Parkland Humane Society is pleased to announce the beginning development of the property in Dauphin at 411 -2nd Ave.
N.W. (fenced area) west of Benson’s Auto.

The development will be staged over a time period as funding permits. Presently, the property is being surveyed, a city conditional usage permit has been received for a storage area building 14 ft. by 24 ft., an animal shelter 40 ft. by 60 ft., and a another building to be determined.

Strilkiwski Construction have donated 10 yards of gravel, Millers Farm Equipment have donated their services to level the gravel,  Stirling Construction under the direction of Terry Tkachuk  has packed the garage site and adjusted the gravel and found the Killdeer nest occupying the site.  The Parkland Humane Society is pleased to announce the safe arrival of
four cute Killdeer chicks in July.  All of the chicks are doing well and enjoy roaming the site.

The Storage Building

The Dauphin Regional Comprehensive Secondary School construction department is building a storage building 14 ft. by 24 ft. The completion date is around the end of May and should arrive at the site at the beginning of June. The much need garage will house kennels, animal food, blankets, etc. as well as maintenance tools and equipment currently stored by Parkland Humane Soceity board members.

The very generous donation by McMunn and Yates, as well as McDiarmid Lumber has covered the costs for the whole garage. Our thanks go out to the suppliers.  The DRCSS Construction Department under the direction of Mr. Doug Dando has done a superb job. Our thanks go out to the students and Mr. Dando for their labor donation and the surprise of a work bench.  Thank you to John Deere Farm Equipment who moved the garage from the DRCSS to its new home on site.  Thank you to Celina Dunfield for the use of her sprayer and TR Rentals for the use of a quad to control the weed population at the site.

We will be looking for various tools. Anyone wanting to donate racks, hoes, spades, wheel barrels, water barrels, wrenches, hammers, lumber, and even nuts and bolts, we are starting basically with nothing and you generosity would be very greatful. Please give us a call 638-6966 and leave us a message and we will return your call a soon as possible. Thank you in advance.
