In the year 2000, a local woman placed an advertisement in the Dauphin Herald asking all those interested in creating a Humane Society to attend a meeting. The turnout was fantastic and included the local animal control officer, a lawyer, and representatives from the veterinarian clinics in Dauphin. A Board of Directors was formed that night and the Parland Humane Society was founded. With the help of a local lawyer, the Parkland Humane Society was incorporated in late 2000 and also has Charitable Status.
Today, the Board of Directors still consists of representatives from throughout Parkland interested in making a difference in our community.
